The NHS Diabetic Eye Screening Programme aims to ensure all people with diabetes aged 12 and over have access to a high-quality screening service.

Access to screening is provided across the country. Screening may be provided from a mobile van or at local optometry practices, GP surgeries or clinics.

The NHS Diabetic Eye Screening Programme works with a number of organisations including Diabetes UK to try to ensure that everyone who is eligible for screening can make an informed decision about whether to take up the offer.

Some people with diabetes may have other conditions that affect their ability to attend some screening locations. Local programmes work hard to make appropriate provisions for these people.
