External quality assurance

External Quality Assurance (EQA) visits to local screening programmes are an integral part of quality assurance within the NHS Diabetic Eye Screening Programme.

These visits play a key role in monitoring performance, minimising harm and maximising benefits. They include a review of the local programme's screening pathway and an assessment of the effectiveness of team working within the local programme and its associated referral sites.
